Boston Dog Lawyers initially tried to negotiate a return of the dog to our client on a shared arrangement but the ex-boyfriend refused to do so.  Both sides agreed to mediation with Attorney Chris Kauders, a super neutral party who himself was the owner of a German Shepherd guide dog.  At mediation, we were able to argue about what is in the best interests of the dog, a theory which judges in MA are not authorized to consider.  Here, our client had significantly more experience caring for aging dogs which Duke was.  As part of our victory, Duke had to be delivered to me at my office and the handoff was memorable.  I played with Duke for an hour before my client made the pick-up.
